District Five was created in 1904 to serve the growing north side population. The original station was located on the corner of North
Third Street and West Hadley Street. When built, the station also housed the north side switch board.
In 1958 the station moved a couple of blocks to the north to its current location at 2920 North Fourth Street. The Fifth District was in the
heart of the 1967 riots and was also home to the east side counter-culture of the 1960's. The station itself has been subject of attacks on
numerous occasions during disturbances. During one incident 4 officers were shot inside of the garage as they attempted to control an
unruly prisoner. In another incident former Milwaukee Alderman Mike McGee helped flip a squad car on it's roof.
