The 1950's were marked by relative peace and safety enjoyed by the city. 1952 saw Milwaukee recognized as the most crime free
metropolis in the United States. Expansion of the departments communication system took place with officers issued "handie
talkies." These portable two way radios allowed officers to finally talk back to their dispatchers. In 1953 District Two moved into a
new station and its boundaries were expanded into "Bay View" absorbing District Four. The 1950's also marked the 100 year
anniversary of the department.
